Komfort Partitioning design and manufacture glazed partition systems for the commercial sector. They were increasingly seeing customers requiring projects to be delivered using BIM technologies and processes. As such, they created a digital object library in Revit and IFC formats, hosted on the NBS National BIM Library.
Komfort were then being asked to complete various BIM questionnaires to demonstrate their ability to contribute to customers’ projects. Komfort’s leadership team recognised that the business required assistance to bring them up to speed with these new ways of managing project information and so they sought AIMIS’ strategic and practical support to implement BIM processes within the business with the goal of becoming certified to ISO 19650 standards, and consequently allowing them to be considered able and qualified to respond to any BIM project tender.
The digital development plan delivered by AIMIS comprised of the following stages;
- Audit of Komfort’s current information management processes
- Gap analysis against BS EN ISO 19650 and roadmap to certification
- BIM Awareness training for all
- BIM Fundamentals training for project delivery teams and senior leadership team
- Identify Komfort BIM working group for implementation
- Project support
- Certification support
The BSI verified and certified Komfort’s processes for BIM design and delivery inline with the ISO 19650-2 standard in August 2021.

Being incapable of delivering BIM compliant asset information for project tenders was stunting our growth. AIMIS led us through the whole process, from creating models to introducing new software and developing the team here so that we’re not just winning BIM projects, we’re working more efficiently.
