SAS International is a leading manufacturer specialising in architectural metalwork, including precision-engineered metal ceiling systems and wall solutions. With a strong track record in delivering high-quality metal sheeting products, SAS supports complex construction projects across various sectors.
With the growing integration of Building Information Modelling (BIM) across major infrastructure and commercial projects, SAS International identified a need to enhance its digital delivery capabilities. The company was particularly focused on achieving compliance with ISO 19650 – the international standards for managing information over the whole life cycle of a built asset using BIM.
SAS International engaged AIMIS through word of mouth, with the goal of formalising and professionalising its BIM procedures. This was SAS’s first time undergoing structured implementation with the intention of achieving ISO 19650 certification.
Key developments included:
- Implementation of Autodesk BIM 360 and Construction Cloud as their CDE platform.
- Structured evidence of working in a CDE, adhering to industry classification codes, and developing designs in full 3D.
- Establishing the ability to deliver non-geometric data such as COBie.
- Introduction of a Task Information Delivery Plan (TIDP) for clear planning of information deliverables.
- Demonstrating BIM capabilities across a portfolio of large-scale, complex projects.
The collaboration with AIMIS marked a significant leap in SAS International’s digital delivery. By embedding these practices, SAS has not only positioned itself for a successful ISO 19650 certification, but has also built a strong foundation for future involvement in digitally driven projects.
