Clash detection is the process of identifying conflicts between different design models before construction begins.
For example, a duct passing through a beam, pipework occupying the same space as cable trays, or maintenance access being blocked by structure. By bringing models together in a shared environment, we can find and resolve these issues early when they are still simple to fix.
When should clash detection start?
As early as possible. Running clash detection too early produces noise. Running it too late produces variations. We typically begin once models are sufficiently developed to represent real intent, then increase coordination intensity as the design progresses toward construction.
